Services - Internet and eCommerce

The first Three Rock website went up in 1995 and was hosted on a Linux web server in a Dublin based apartment. The founder Peter Mac could have hosted it professionally with 24 x 7 support and all the peace of mind that goes with that sort of arrangement. The decision was made to walk the walk and talk the talk. If we were going to develop and maintain other people's websites, we'd better get damn good at doing it on our own first.

That was 15 years ago. Look how much the Internet has changed since then. Technologies have got more complicated, tools have popped up all over the place to combat the complexities and there's no sign of anything slowing down. And we've since splashed out on a couple of our own servers in a professionally hosted environment.

In the intervening years, the Internet has been good for business. Sure, we've built a few business oriented websites, a couple of shopping carts, helped out a winery or two, but most of our exciting work will never be seen by the public. The reason is that our really hard-core web development work is being used internally by companies, who have used our skills to build Intranet solutions to help streamline their business processes.

Examples of the kind of work we've done are:

  • Streamline an on-line loan application system for a large bank.
  • Design and build a web-based shipment management system for a brewer.
  • Design a staff roster system for a temping agency
  • Design and build an SMS notification system for a vehicle sales website.

If you have an idea that you'd like to see implemented, give us a call and we'll see what we can do to help you turn it into reality.

The web based technologies we use include PHP, Ruby on Rails and ASP.Net. We like using open source database solutions where possible.

We also create websites for clients using well established Content Management Systems (CMS). These tools such as Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal empower our clients to manage their own site content once the initial website has been designed and built. The CMSwe use are all open source packages and as such there are no on-going license costs. This means you can get a website designed and built for a very competitive price.
